Black Velvet Circus (BVC) emerged from a vintage shop founded in Berlin in 2010. The main
inspiration still comes from vintage fashion.

In 2017, Tanja
Glissmann, the founder of BVC, became aware of the craft as a catalyst for creativity through a
German government-funded textile project in Thailand and Indonesia. Since then, she has been using
hand embroidery, patchwork, hand painting and felting to explore the future of fashion and textiles.
The label produces fashion and interior textiles that are sold worldwide, mainly in
Scandinavia, Germany, UK, Japan and America (USA).
